So, I carpooled today.
Then my carpool went to lunch at her mom's.
Then I had to call my hubby to rescue me from work.
Luckily he didn't respond quickly to my request for a ride.
It seemed like such a normal day. Until while my carpool sat in her mom's house an F18 crashed into the house 3 houses away. Funny, they didn't notice until her mom saw smoke. I would think that would have felt like an earthquake. She said when they opened the door it was actually really loud and you could hear explosions. Her mom must have some good insulation. Anyways, initially no one could come or go...hence my phone call to my hubby. However with a little passage of time she was allowed to drive away from the wreckage...to come back to work to get me.
It's been a strange day.
I hope it stays for a bit. They say it is supposed to be a rainy season...of course, "they" are frequently misinformed....so we will have to wait and see. I'm just happy that the 80's are hopefully over for now. It rained today and yesterday, and it stayed below 70.
I actually wore a sweater today...a thin one, but a sweater all the same.
I'm hoping to break out the flannel sheets soon.

We've discovered Kgirl has a talent. Yes, it is the art of manipulation. And I quote...."Daddy, Jesus wants you to eat my breakfast."
Okay, so I never fell for the "people are starving in China". I could pass up dessert. Yes, I did the dishes every night because I didn't eat. But, I'm a little disappointed in myself. I never though to use Jesus in my refusal of food. Dang, she's good.
....and she has Daddy wrapped around that little finger of hers.
Camp Pendleton is burning. It's weird because we can actually see the flames. It seems much closer than Camp Pendelton. I really hope and pray that this year is not nearly as bad as last year! They think the winds are through tomorrow...I'm hoping people behave themselves so there's no arson.
We'll have to see what happens.
It's my birthday. I'm not sure I feel any older. According to the quiz on facebook, I'm really still 18.
I had a fabulous day (even though I had to work). My staff took me to lunch (surprised me), gave me flowers, gift cards to shop with and a bulletin board with their photos--talking about how I had impacted them. It was all very nice and sweet. It's good to feel loved.
Tomorrow I'm going to Laguna for the day...tooling around with the KC Angels...I'll post that photo some other day. We're thinking we'll drink some kosher wine on the beach and have sushi.
Also, tomorrow night is our last night of Married Couple's...and we're hosting a murder mystery. I'm Mercedes Accelerati (in other words I'm the ho', the fast one). Yes Tammy- Micah said it was a trend I've started since I was the floozy last time :D . This one is set in Roman times. I told the church group this wasn't college anymore and clothes must be worn under the toga.
J-boy's 7 on Sunday...we get to go to Chuck E Cheese. I simply can't wait.
The sky was amazing this morning. Who knew we could actually have a little weather in San Diego. I was on the way to work this am with streaks of lightning bolts to the west out over the ocean....as the sun was rising in the east. The sun was lighting up and silhouetting the thunder clouds in the east and it was black to the west except when lit up by the lightning. Just beautiful.
Then, after spending the day in an even 65 degrees....also, who knew it was actually HOT and sticky outside?
We start our new women's study next week. We're mixing it up a little bit, and reading a book. I think we're going to go through it Book Club Style. We're reading Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. I still think Martha got a bum rap...
One thing I've gleaned so far is Martha's gift was hospitality...and what a great gift to have. But, ever noticed--one's gift or strength is frequently their weakness as well.
Do I recognize where my strengths come from? Do I realize the gifts and talents God has bestowed on me? Do I keep them in perspective, remembering to follow Mary's example as well...and to be still at the feet of He who made me who I am? I do know I have a lot to learn and glean...so....I'll keep you posted on how the study goes!
Okay, so I'm a little delayed. I am happy to say that we stomped UVA 52-7 over a week ago...thus placing us in the all coveted position of no. 1. hehe. We'll see what happens next Saturday with Ohio St. I'm leaving my work picnic early to watch the game. Let's hope the game goes better than yesterday's miserable Charger game (lost in the last 2 seconds of the game...*sigh*)
I am happy to say that a new season is upon us. Yes, fall is acomin'....and it is FOOTBALL season.
USC is ranked 3rd...with Ohio St. 2nd and Georgia 1st. August 30th will find me glued to the opener against Virginia--and 2 weeks later is Ohio St. (whom I hope we stomp).
I'm a little concerned about this season though. Every year, my hubby studies and I watch football. It's a tradition. This year, he doesn't have class. He has to study for comps...but will he study on Saturday? I can't allow him to weigh in on the game. We lose whenever he sits on the 'SC side.
Fight On!
